Aircon Filters for Dust Allergies and Pet Dander: What They Can Do for Your Home

October 3, 2026

If someone in your home sneezes more when the aircon is on, or you share your space with a cat or dog, you have probably wondered whether an aircon filter could help. Your aircon circulates the air in your room, which makes it a natural place to capture airborne particles. Here is what an aircon filter can do.

Key takeaways

Flair Filters capture common airborne triggers like dust, pollen, pet dander and dust mite waste.
They help reduce exposure to these triggers in the rooms where your aircon runs.
High Filtration filters up to 90% of pollution and is the best choice for allergy conscious homes.
Flair Filters are not a medical treatment. Always follow your doctor's advice.

Why your aircon matters for allergy triggers

Your aircon pulls in room air, cools it and blows it back out. Any dust, pollen or dander floating in that air passes through the unit. Adding a filter sheet means those particles can be captured along the way, so your aircon cleans the air while it cools it. What Flair Filters capture

Flair Filters capture particles of 0.3 microns and above, including many common allergy and asthma triggers:

Household dust and micro particles
Pollen
Pet dander from cats and dogs
Dust mite waste
Mould spores
Bacteria
Smoke and PM2.5 pollution

By capturing these particles from the air passing through your aircon, Flair Filters help reduce your exposure to common allergy triggers and remove irritants from your home.

Which filter is best for allergies?

If reducing allergy triggers is your main goal, choose our High Filtration filters. They filter up to 90% of pollution, the highest level in our range. If you would rather keep airflow as strong as possible, Max Airflow filters 65% of pollution while typically reducing only around 5% of your airflow.

Safe for the whole family

Flair Filters are made from high quality nonwoven polypropylene and comply with internationally recognised safety standards:

REACH certified: free from harmful chemicals
RoHS certified: no heavy metals or banned flame retardants
Biodegradable: PLA certified, tested by TÜV Rheinland

Replace regularly for best results

A filter full of captured particles should not stay in your aircon forever. Flair Filters are single use and should be replaced every 2 months. Never wash them, as washing can reduce filtration performance and damp filters may encourage mould growth.

A note on health

Flair Filters help reduce airborne particles in your home, but they are not a medical treatment. If you or a family member has allergies or asthma, please follow the advice of your doctor.
